What SHL says
SHL Verify Interactive G+ is SHL's interactive general ability test, and applicants call the reasoning part of AstraZeneca's assessment G+. You build each answer by dragging, adjusting and clicking. It scores numerical, deductive and inductive reasoning, the three abilities AstraZeneca applicants were graded on in earlier cycles, and SHL publishes it as up to 24 questions in 36 minutes.
See the format before the clock starts
SHL allows about ten minutes for instructions and practice questions before the timed part. An applicant in 2023 gave advice that still holds: read the instructions first. The practice questions are in the format of the real ones, so use them to settle your hands, your calculator and your grids.
What interactive means in practice
- Numerical: drag a point on a chart to a value, resize the bars of a chart, adjust a pie chart until the slices match a described split.
- Deductive: pick the dates on a calendar that satisfy a set of conditions, fit tasks into a day around blocked slots, rank people from a set of clues.
- Inductive: find the rule in a series of shapes and complete the pattern.
There is no list of answers to pick from. You produce the answer on the chart, the calendar or the grid, and the mechanics of each kind of question cost time until your hands know them. Applicants single out the calendar and timetable questions as the hardest to finish in time.
How to practise it
- Learn each question type once. Work through examples until dragging a line to a value, resizing bars, ranking people from clues and completing a pattern feel mechanical.
